21st July 2011 (Paul Gaffney)

2.14pm - By breakfast this morning we were passing Sumburgh head.

We got into Lerwick sometime around lunch, wasn’t watching the clock as I was up the foremast furling the square sail on the top yard. That was quite scary but at the same time pretty exciting standing on the footrope but we were well roped in. After heaving on the sail I got to enjoy the view of Lerwick from quite a height and stayed up there until we were quite close to mooring. What a great way to arrive here and end a super journey and on such a great ship!
