On Sunday we left Stavanger during the fantastic Parade of Sail and started off quite near front which caused great excitement!
4.23pm - Making progress towards Halmstad, should be past Skagen later tonight then heading south, it'll be nice to have a change of direction.
6.43pm We finished the race at 1430 local time this afternoon after the race committee brought the time limit forward to give us time to get to Hamlstad.
5pm - The wind picked up through the night so although we've had a cracking sail for the last 20hrs or so the direction hasn't been good.
6.57pm Finished the race this morning, not a good finishing position but a great sail all the way across the north sea.
1.30pm - The Shetland trainees and everyone else aboard Sørlandet have been really excited and enthusiastic ever since leaving Lerwick.
6.14pm Still sailing well, maybe not the most competitive race we've had but reaching along with an easy motion.
6.43pm – Swan is finally across the start line after a 24hr delay due to weather conditions.
2.14pm - By breakfast this morning we were passing Sumburgh head.
12.20am Our watch at 12 began with sunshine and calmer weather.
3.26pm Rough day yesterday - ship heeling a lot and rolling all over the place- huge waves!
12.05pm - Left Ullapool this morning and we're heading for Orkney.
12.40am - We're in Shetland!
7.45pm - Left Stornoway at 8:30am this morning, after catching up on our sleep through the night.
6.43pm - In the last 24 hours we've seen 39 dolphins, 2 basking sharks and a minke whale and gone from 3 knots to 10.
12.20am - This evening we arrived in Oban just after dinner and went ashore to a fantastic ceilidh.
10.05am - Yesterday we had a brilliant onshore activity day with softball, basketball and swimming in Campbeltown.
7.20pm – The Swan arrived in Stornaway this morning, there's trees!
9pm - Just left North Uist and sailing towards Stornoway.
After arriving at Aberdeen in the rain, we were welcomed yesterday by the sun beaming over the Tall Ships in Greenock!
5pm – We are off to a great start with some cracking weather!
Two trainees joining the Swan were keen to get underway on the Cruise in Company leg today (12 July).
Morna Brown (17) from Stromness sailed in the Waterford to Greenock race leg on the Astrid. She was really proud when her ship came 2nd in the Class A race.
23:20 - We arrived in Greenock at approx 1800 on Friday evening. Lots of boats in a small harbour so a brilliant atmosphere to sail in to.
Some of the Sail Training Shetland trainees are nearing the end of their time on board Swan and reflected on the race leg from Waterford and Greenock.
09:35 - We’re back on the ship and heading towards the north side of Arran
13:04 - We’ve not had a huge amount of free time as we’ve been spending some time at the helm.
After arriving in Waterford, finding my ship (Class A vessel - the Europa) and a spectacular fireworks display, it was time for bed
We’re approaching the finish line for Race 1 and should be across in the next hour or so.
We enjoyed delicious Connall's pancakes for breakfast this morning and had a special treat when some dolphins swam alongside the boat for the afternoon.
Just started race 1 of The Tall Ships Races 2011, very light winds. Trainees all keen and getting on well.
