Sail Training Shetland has successful recruitment drive at Careers Convention

Sail Trainees who participated in the 2009 Sail Training Shetland scheme were on-hand to share their experiences from this summer's races between Greenock and Belfast, with potential recruits attending last night's Careers Convention.

At the Sail Training Shetland stand, Trainees handed out leaflets, information and got interested youngsters to sign up to receive further details about the opportunities that will be available in the future.

Several of the trainees were quick to let people know that no experience of sailing was needed to apply for this opportunity of a lifetime. Feedback given to potential recruits by Trainees included "one of the most amazing experiences in my life", to "the atmosphere was electric" and "would recommend it to anyone". The enthusiasm from the recent trainees certainly rubbed off on others, with over forty people signing up for details for the 2010 opportunities. Sail Training opportunities will be available for young people between the ages of 15-25 years old and details of 2010 schemes will be posted on the sail training page.
