Shetland team appoint DADA for Media and PR services

Integrated marketing company DADA has been appointed to create and deliver the PR and marketing activity for The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick and, following a successful campaign in 2009, has been re-appointed to deliver the PR and online marketing for the 2010 Royal National Mod.

The appointment for The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick followed a scenic visit to the Shetland Isles to meet The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick team.

Oli Norman, managing director of DADA, said:  “The sensational scenery of the Shetland Isles on the flight over was a fantastic way to begin our campaign.  We’re delighted to be working with The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick and will be kicking off activity in the coming weeks.

“This has been a very successful year for DADA so far with lots of high profile client wins such as The Tall Ships Races and lots of repeat business such as the Royal National Mod 2010.  We’ve also been busy with our own projects through our Ventures division with events such as GLAM in the City and Festival in the Sky creating headlines throughout the summer.”

Shetland will welcome the Tall Ships fleet to Lerwick from 21-24 July after the non-competitive “Cruise in Company” between Greenock and Lerwick taking place from 12-21 July and will be the starting port for Race 2 between Lerwick and Stavanger, Norway.

Following an intensive pitch process involving a number of competing communication firms in the UK, the appointment marks the start of a ten month PR campaign supported by marketing activity for The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick.

Fiona Dally, Project Manager of The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick said: “Finding an agency with an ability to think strategically and creatively across multiple audience sectors and geographies was critical to our communication objectives. We are excited about raising the profile of this prestigious event in Shetland, encouraging visitors to come to our beautiful islands and getting young people involved at the heart of the event as Sail Trainees.”

DADA re-secured the PR contract for the Royal National Mod 2010 following a hugely successful PR and online marketing campaign in 2009.  The Royal National Mod 2010 and The Tall Ships Races 2011 are both global events and massive celebrations of Scottish culture.  Both PR campaigns will be geared towards securing widespread coverage of Scotland as a destination for tourism, events, business and education.

John Morrison, chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach said: "We’re delighted to be working with DADA again on the Royal National Mod in Caithness this year.

“The team at DADA was able to demonstrate that it can engage with the Gaelic community and wider public in a fresh way that will grow awareness of Scotland’s premier festival celebrating Gaelic culture and attract new visitors. The team has a high level of energy and enthusiasm, with a professional approach to developing the festival and we're delighted to have them on board."

In addition to its new business, DADA enjoys long-term relationships with prestigious brands such as Hilton Worldwide, food giant Domino’s Pizza and the SLTN awarding winning pub operator Maclay Inns.

DADA has been responsible for some of the UK’s most renowned and successful marketing campaigns. The success is built on an unrivalled reputation for creative thinking and consistently high levels of achievement in media relations.  The company’s ability to form strong relationships with media across a diverse range of industries and locations has directly contributed to its success on a UK level.
