Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Ltd Launches Sponsorship Target of £400,000 for Event

The Sponsorship Opportunities for The Tall Ships Races visit to Lerwick in 2011 have now been launched.

A Welcome to Sponsors event was held on 12 November 2009 at Harbour House, Lerwick - the headquarters for the operating company, Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Limited.

Many local businesses took the opportunity to see how they could become involved in supporting this major event. A range of benefits are available for the different levels of sponsorship - including Corporate Receptions onboard one of the square rigged Tall Ships while in Lerwick.

In-kind sponsorship is a popular option with several businesses offering services rather than cash sponsorship. The operating company is very grateful for all forms of support offered to assist in the delivery of a quality event.

A target of £400,000 has been set to be raised through sponsorship. A significant contribution to the target has already been made through the committed package from Lerwick Port Authority and also the Cruise in Company support from EventScotland.

Volunteer assistance is also greatly appreciated - and foremost among this are the volunteers helping the Finance and Sponsorship sub-committee to raise the target sum. Sandra Laurenson chairs this committee and she said, "We are very grateful for the valuable input from those giving their time to help meet the target. We also greatly appreciate the response from the business community, many of whom are looking forward to the event visiting the Isles again".

Fiona Dally, the Project Manager for The Tall Ships Races- Lerwick said, "We look forward to engaging with potential sponsors, and are grateful to the local businesses who are already onboard to help make this event a huge success for Shetland. Myself and my colleague, Louise Cluness are also happy to discuss tailored packages to suit individual requirements".

Information on the Sponsorship Opportunities is available on the Sponsors section.
