Sail Training Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia
Organisers of the Lerwick stopover of The Tall Ships Races taking place in July 2011 are off to Canada today to attend an annual Sail Training International Conference taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
During the conference, Shetland will begin their marketing campaign with other host ports to attract ships to attend the Races in 2011. The conference is also an ideal opportunity to network with other host ports, including Halifax, host port in next years’ Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge, which starts in Vigo, Spain and races to Tenerife, Bermuda, USA, Halifax and onwards to the final port of Belfast.
Fiona Dally, Project Manager responsible for delivering The Tall Ships’ Races in Lerwick said "the conference is an ideal setting to gain invaluable planning information from other ports and I am looking forward to attending several workshops during the conference.
We are also taking a marketing stand with fellow host ports in 2011; Waterford, Greenock, Stavanger and Halmstad and have promotional information on Shetland to give out to Captains and Sail Training Organisations who will be attending from around the world."
