Co-ordinator Appointed

Plans for The Tall Ships Races visit to Shetland in 2011 have taken a step forward as Fiona Dally has been appointed as The Tall Ships Races 2011 Event Coordinator.

Ms Dally brings considerable event management experience from her time as Operations Manager assisting in the huge community effort to deliver the NatWest Island Games held in Shetland in 2005.  She will work with the Local Tall Ships Races Committee to set up the event in Lerwick in 3 years time and will also be working with the wider Sail Training International Ports Committee responsible for organising the whole event in 2011.   The Sail Training International Committee includes all the 2011 ports: Waterford, Greenock, Lerwick, Stavanger and Halmstad.

Mr Neil Grant, speaking on behalf of the Shetland Development Trust, emphasised that the Coordinator post is a pivotal one for the planning of The Tall Ships Races event in 2011 and that the Trust was very pleased to recruit Fiona Dally who has a successful track record in large scale event organisation in Shetland.

Ms Dally said "I am delighted to have been appointed as Coordinator to organise The Tall Ships Races 2011 and look forward to working with local businesses and the wider community to ensure the event is a great success."
